Footballco Introduces Podcast Playlists for the Best Sports Marketing Insights

With more than 60 episodes of the Footballco Business Podcast having been published, Football has created a series of sports business, marketing and media Spotify playlists. The curated content will help those in the industry find the insight that matters most to them.

Launched in 2021, the Footballco Business Podcast features the most innovative people working in football media, brand and marketing, including leaders from some of the biggest and most exciting clubs, organisations and media brands.

Football Media

With modern clubs operating as media businesses, almost as much as football clubs, this playlist features a wealth of rights holders, content creators and media brands. We’ve discussed the importance of print media with MUNDIAL, directing football with Taika Waititi and succeeding on TikTok with Ben Black. We’ve discussed football documentaries with Wolves and Southampton and found out what goes into creating a successful media offering with Juventus and Manchester City.

Reaching Young Football Fans

Whether it’s Gen-Z or Gen-Alpha, this playlist houses shows about reaching young fans in new ways. Hear from UEFA about how they reached young girls ahead of the 2022 Women’s Euro, PepsiCo on how they use music, grassroots and gaming to engage fans or from the English Football Association on how they’re marketing the world’s oldest cup competition to new fans.

Our shows featuring leaders in soccer in the Americas can be found here. Purpose in Football

With purpose being more important than ever for clubs and fans, this playlist covers diversity in football. We hear from Stonewall and Sports Media LGBTQ about Rainbow Laces and how the media covers gender and sexuality in football. We’ve spoken to Oakland Roots about the importance of diversity and with Charlton Atheltic to find out how they’re trying to engage fans from diverse communities around the club.

Leagues and Organisations

A number of leagues and organisations have appeared on the Footballco Business Podcast. Across Europe, we’ve welcomed Svensk Elitfotboll (Swedish Leagues), The English FA, the Bundesliga, and Hashtag United to discuss non-league football.

Outside of Europe, guests have included the USL and Alexi Lalas discussing MLS, the J League, and the Saudi Pro League. We’ve also looked at football-adjacent competitions, such as the World Freestyle Football Association.

Football Culture and Kits

Football’s relationship with fashion and the rise in kit culture are growing. This is why this playlist is dedicated to innovators who sit between football and fashion. These include Inter Milan on their work with Moncler, Fly Nowwhere’s Mark Lowyns on US soccer sub-culture, and Crystal Palace’s Kenny Annan-Jonathan.

We’ve had guests providing insight into football kit design, such as Adidas on their World Cup 2022 designs and creating Messi’s World Cup winning shirt, and former Puma and Umbro designer Rob Warner on his classic England kits. We’ve also been joined by Admiral Sports to hear how they created the replica shirt market and have since pivoted into award-winning collabs.
