ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Marketing & Communications will develop and execute strategic marketing and communication plans across both B2B and B2C channels to increase the visibility, credibility, engagement, and audience growth for Footballco’s portfolio of brands — primarily GOAL, Mundial, and Indivisa. This role will lead all marketing, performance marketing, public relations, and communications efforts, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience across both the technical and the creative side of marketing.

We are looking for someone to drive brand marketing, delivering meaningful moments and campaigns that elevate the profile of our brands, and oversee performance marketing to accomplish growth KPIs.

Success in this role means delivering growth across subscriber KPIs and creating impactful marketing campaigns that drive excitement, inspiration, and brand credibility. A passion for the inclusive nature of modern football is a must but experience in football or sports is not required.

  • How can we grow Mundial’s magazine subscribers via a combination of performance marketing and brand marketing?

  • How can we elevate GOAL’s brand in key markets such as the UK, the USA, and the Middle East?

  • How can we drive home our brand values with consumers in a cluttered sector?

  • How can we drive downloads of the GOAL app or registrations on our website?

  • How can INDIVISA mature as a brand and create partnerships with ally brands in women's football?

  • What would research tell us is the most effective way to deepen our relationship with our audience?

  • How can we create meaningful events & experiences for our portfolio of brands?

  • How can we better engage & retain our clients, partners, and advertisers with B2B activations, events, or more?

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop concurrent marketing initiatives (leveraging paid media, digital media, events, partnerships and more) across our portfolio of brands and demonstrate the impact delivered by each

  • Define an annual Marketing & PR budget that supports Footballco’s vision and business priorities, including increased brand awareness and hitting key growth targets.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies with executive stakeholders across the organisation including Sales, Strategy, Product, and Editorial to accomplish our goals.

Performance Marketing & Growth

  • Hit subscription targets for our brand MUNDIAL.

  • Create new performance strategies connected to specific business KPIs across our broader portfolio of brands.

Public Relations and Communications:

  • Be proactive in B2B communications, including media outreach, events, and speaking opportunities to drive greater awareness and credibility around our brands.

  • Maintain and optimise Footballco’s digital presence, key digital infrastructure, and a full digital brand asset suite. Develop and own Footballco’s native content program to enhance our earned media strategy.

  • Understand the market, competitors, and consumer behaviour; identify market trends and opportunities

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Partner with our internal research team to develop insights and studies ensuring we anticipate and exceed the needs of our fans, users, and communities using NPS and other stakeholder surveys.

  • Analyse research data to refine marketing strategies and tactics.

Branding & Creative Campaign Development:

  • As a publisher, our content is our marketing. As a result we do not execute above the line marketing campaigns.

  • However, you will be expected to conceptualise and execute the occasional marketing campaign that generates excitement, inspiration, and awareness by collaborating with our internal design, creative, and editorial teams as required to bring these ideas to life.

  • Enhance the brand image and voice across our portfolio. Ensure consistency in branding and messaging.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the marketing and communications team.

  • Foster a collaborative and creative working environment.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • 8-10 years experience in marketing or communication roles — preferably in the publishing, sports, or social media industry — including people management experience

  • Knowledge of the UK media, publishing, or sports industry, ideally with established relationships in these circles

  • Demonstrated paid growth experience with track record of success

  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and verbal communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build and nurture relationships

  • Data-driven approach to decision-making and a track record of leveraging research to inform marketing or communication strategies

  • B2B communications experience including media outreach, events, and speaking opportunities

  • Proven success at recruiting, motivating, inspiring, and managing a team

  • Experience working in a cross-border, multicultural, fast-paced environment is preferred

  • Event experience (B2B and B2C) is preferred

  • Leading a successful rebrand or brand evolution project is preferred

  • Knowledge of performance marketing tools & plugins, e.g. Klaviyo, Shopify, Formtoro, Fomo, Videowise, AnyTrack / Clickmagick, Estimated Delivery app, is preferred

  • Possess a passion for football, culture, and everything it touches or willingness to dive in and learn it! Prior experience in football is not required.
